Complete all of the Daily, Weekly, and Monthly quests that you can whilst pursuing your own goals and gather in the rewards, particularly the silver, the energy and the gems that Whales with too much money on their hands spend freely for. The game makes it easy to develop your champions by giving you rewards for tasks that you'd probably want to do anyway.
